Partners in the fight against polio:

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention -- The most important contribution of the CDC to polio eradication continues to be deployment of its epidemiologists, public health experts and scientists to WHO and UNICEF. CDC also provides funding for staffing as well as for the oral polio vaccine. In addition, the Atlanta-based organization provides a wide range of technical expertise and laboratory support for the polio eradication initiative.
Christian Relief and Development Association -- Assists in coordinating efforts for national immunization days in Ethiopia.
International Medical Corps -- Provides doctors and nurses, training and technical support for immunizing and treating children with polio.
Pan American Health Organization -- Responsible for eliminating polio from the Americas in 1994.
Rotary International -- Through its PolioPlus program, established in 1985, Rotary was the first to have the vision of a polio-free world, and continues to play a crucial role in global efforts to eradicate polio.
UNICEF -- The lead partner in the procurement and distribution of polio vaccines for routine and supplementary immunizations. With WHO, UNICEF participates in the implementation of intensified national immunization days (NIDs) and sub-national immunization days (SNIDs) and mop-up campaigns. UNICEF also provides technical assistance.
The UN Foundation -- A major partner that raises money for the polio eradication efforts through its web site www.endpolionow.org.
USAID (U.S. Agency for International Development) -- Immunization and polio eradication are among the fundamental components of USAID's maternal and child health program.
The World Health Organization -- Through its headquarters, regional and country offices, WHO provides overall technical direction and strategic planning for the management and coordination of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative.

The CORE Group -- A network of 38 non-governmental organizations working on polio through child survival projects.
