Scott Thigpen, Producer/ Director

For nearly a decade, Scott has traveled the globe producing stories about the world's people and cultures. His work has garnered nearly three dozen international awards. Scott has created video and television projects for CARE, The Smithsonian Institution, ABC, PBS, Turner Broadcasting and others. His most recent productions include "African Voices" for The National Museum of Natural History, the Emmy award-winning Holocaust documentary, "Burning Questions," on NBC and "A Foundation for Peace: Rebuilding Life in Kosovo" for Albanian Television.

Matthew De Galan, Writer

As a journalist, author and documentary writer, Matthew has spent 15 years covering international development, poverty, health and other topics. He has authored or co-authored five books, three documentaries, several short films and numerous articles in newspapers, magazines and on the Internet. Matthew's work has been honored by several national awards. Today, he is chief development officer for Mercy Corps, a humanitarian agency active in more than 29 developing countries.


Greg Pope, Associate Producer/Editor/Field Audio

Greg began his career at Turner Broadcasting System in Atlanta. For more than nine years, Greg worked on projects ranging from Hanna-Barbera's animated series, "Captain Planet," to CNN's award-winning program, "People Count with Jane Fonda." In 2001, Greg started his own production company, which serves a broad spectrum of clients, from the Sci-Fi Channel and its series, "Crossing Over with John Edwards," to the launch of GEO-TV News, in Karachi, Pakistan. Greg specializes in international documentary filmmaking and has production experience on six continents, including Antarctica.

Gerard Dolan, Director of Photography

For more than 20 years, Gerard created numerous documentaries focusing on international development issues. He filmed award-winning productions such as "What's Eating Africa," "Tools for Development," "Waiting for the Rains" and "Part of the Solution." Gerard's distinctive style made him one of Canada's most sought-after directors of photography and attracted clients like CNN, BBC, CBC, WTN, CARE, the Smithsonian Institution, CIDA and others. His assignments took him to nearly 70 countries. Gerard passed away in October 2003.

John Lambert, Music Composer

For more than a decade, John has professionally composed music for television, film, radio and the web. He co-founded the successful music company Next Wave Productions in 1994. Since then, John has scored hundreds of projects for clients such as TNT, PBS, the Travel Channel and the Weather Channel. His work has been recognized with multiple Telly Awards, Addy Awards and top honors from the New York Film Festival. John's recent projects include scoring a documentary for CARE.


Will Lyman, Narrator

Known for his distinctive style, Will is one of the preeminent voice talents in the United States. He has been the voice of the acclaimed PBS series "Frontline" for more than a decade. Will also is the voice of PBS' "American Experience" and of many documentary programs on the Discovery Channel.


Carol Cassidy, Consulting Producer

A graduate of the American Film Institute's Directing Workshop for Women, Carol has produced and directed such highly acclaimed work as the "Girls in America" series for PBS and ITVS, the ITVS program, "Baby Love" and the documentary, "Wildwood, New Jersey." She has worked for CNN and Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., producing award-winning work on the war in Bosnia, the Somalia famine, the end of the Cold War and the Gulf War. Carol's current projects include an NEA film about African-American yard art, and an animated documentary on the life of the soul.

David Newberry, Technical Advisor

With more than 35 years experience in national and international public health, David is a CARE senior health advisor and head of the CORE polio eradication team. He worked for 25 years in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's infectious disease unit to help eradicate smallpox, initiated President Carter's guinea worm eradication project in Ghana, and served as a consultant with both Johns Hopkins University's department of international health and with the U.S. government.

Laura Bellinger, Production Coordinator/Researcher

Since 1991, Laura has engaged her written and persuasion skills to promote corporate and non-profit initiatives including CARE, the 1996 Olympic Games and the 1996 Paralympic Games. As production coordinator and researcher, she has assisted production of seven foreign aid documentaries for CARE; an Olympic Games documentary series for Trans World International/GEO-film Bertelsmann; Coca-Cola's Olympic sponsorship exhibit, Olympic City; and on-site television coverage of international sporting events in Tunisia, Argentina, Russia and Atlanta. As publicist, she has served as a press officer for CNN and an account manager for Alexander Ogilvy Public Relations.     

Indra Sibal, Website Producer/DVD Features Producer

Since nearly the beginning of the Internet era, Indra has been developing and managing web sites. She has worked for Turner Broadcasting, Inc. and her recent work includes sites for the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, Captain Planet Foundation and the Turner Foundation. Her video experience includes shooting, editing, reporting and producing various stories for air on the CNN networks. She has also worked as a videographer on other documentaries, including one recently filmed in Cuba. Indra has also been an anchor and producer for CNNRadio.
